What is “side work”?
“Side work” is usually defined as a job that is performed by someone outside their full time profession. Often “side work” consists of jobs that are too small in scale to interest large established businesses (unless they are able to charge a large markup). Thus laborers, artisans, professionals, and small businesses that are willing perform “side work” offer consumers a cost effective alternative.
What is a jobber?
A jobber is an individual or business that is looking to provide a service to other individuals or businesses within their community.
What is an employer?

How do I retrieve my password?
Your password can be retrieved by clicking the “forgot password” link on the homepage (it is located on the top right corner of the screen). The following screen will ask for the email address you entered when creating an account. Enter this email address and click the submit button. You will receive a confirmation message and an email containing your password.
Will my personal information be kept private?
Yes. All personal information will not be disclosed to any persons, affiliates, or advertisers without your consent.
Is my credit card information secure when making a transaction?
Yes. Local Side Work does not store any credit card information (in an effort to better protect our customers from security threats). We feel that the convenience factor associated with a pre-populated credit card field is outweighed by the risks that come along with storing valuable information.
Will you ever ask for credit card information in an email?
No. Under no circumstances will we ask for credit card information via email. Please contact us if you are asked for credit card information via email.
How do you recommend negotiating a work agreement?
Negotiating a work agreement is the responsibility of both the jobber and the employer and has no association with Local Side Work LC. We recommend that all agreements be documented in writing and signed by both parties in permanent ink. A link to a sample work agreement can be found on the bottom of our homepage; however, it must be noted that is only a sample form and Local Side Work is in no way responsible for any alterations made to this agreement or damages associated with it.
When should I create an employer account?
If you would like to hire a talented laborer, artisan, or professional then you should create an employer account. By creating an employer account you are able to search our database for qualified workers and/or post work that is searchable to our registered jobbers.
When should I create a jobber account?
If you would like to provide your skills, talents, or labor to individuals/businesses within your community then you should create a jobber account. By creating a jobber account you can search for work that was posted to our database and receive job invitations from employers whom have searched for jobbers like you.
Can I register as both a jobber and an employer?
Yes. You may register as both a jobber and an employer, but you cannot post and accept your own jobs.
What does it mean to receive a “job invitation” in your email?
If you have received a “job invitation”, congratulations! It means that an employer has reviewed your jobber profile and invited you to accept a job they would like completed. Job invitations are on a first come first serve basis (and the employer may have sent more than one job invitation), so do not delay. If you are the first jobber to accept the job invitation you will receive the employer’s contact information (they will also receive your contact information). Please note that the employer is not obligated to hire you for the job, but this is a great opportunity to receive a qualified lead and negotiate an agreement.
What does it mean to receive a “job request” in your email?
If you receive a “job request” it means that one of our registered jobbers would like you to review their profile and invite them to complete the work you have posted. If you choose to review their jobber profile, you are left with two options (1) send them a job invitation (2) disregard the email.
